Chicago. Then maybe I could go :P

Chicago, so that Oprah can give away stuff and talk about it nonstop.

It would be great for South America to host the Olympics for the first time but I am personally rooting for Chicago. I live in Illinois and this would give me a chance to attend an event with my children.

The moon. That should put a damper on the long jump. >:)

Hope the Yanks dont get it, they would run TV ads halfway through the 100 metres final.

oratio's avatar

I think it would be good for Rio, but I kind of feel Chicago will get it. Which would be nice as well.

I hope we get them in Chicago. Obama can’t get anything through Congress; maybe he’ll have better luck with the IOC.

hug_of_war's avatar

It would be nice for somewhere outside of north america/europe to host it, and as we recently had an asian country I would especially love if rio got it, though I wouldn’t mind any of the four places really, but I always love learning about the culture of whatever country it’s in, which makes chicago kind of a depressing choice for me.

eponymoushipster's avatar

Chicago has a lot of culture.

galileogirl's avatar

It looks like Chicago has the best plan with a fairly compact area for events instead of spreading them out over 500 sq km

jonsblond's avatar

Chicago was just eliminated. :(

EmpressPixie's avatar

Oh, boo! I was really hoping it would be Chicago. They really needed the jobs.

My daughter will be 12 in 2016 and I thought that would have been an amazing experience to take her to see the gymnastics events. I’m more bummed than I thought I would be.

eponymoushipster's avatar

I bet it’ll be rio. everyone just loves the boo-tahy.

DominicX's avatar

I hope it’s Rio. I’ve never even been to South America, but I find it fascinating and I agree with @hug_of_war.

Chicago and Tokyo were just eliminated in the first round of voting.

eponymoushipster's avatar

@eponymoushipster

Yes, I knew it! :)

Although, Doha and Baku would’ve been cool places; I hope someday the Olympics are held there too.

eponymoushipster's avatar

Baku would have been very cool. Sochi will be cool.

Beaumont Texas.

I’m predicting Rio, watch now.

YARNLADY's avatar

I would have picked Madrid, but Rio got it.

The Olympics should be abolished, so my answer is none. It is just a country versus country testosteronal display. “I won more medals than you so I play my national anthem and weep.” Take out the countries and I am all for it. Nationalism is a disease and too rampant at the Olympics for my endorsing of it.

Jack_Haas's avatar

Brazil has a lot going for it right now and it’s the best choice hands down. They’re leading South America into the first world and it’s a well deserved recognition. And if one country has shown it could put together a huge party every year it’s Brazil!!

Jack79's avatar

Without actually checking who won yet, I’d say Rio. So who won?

oratio's avatar

Rio did =D

Bluefreedom's avatar

Apparently not Chicago since they are no longer in the running. Let’s go with Rio since I’ve never yet visited South America. I need a vacation too and that’s the most important consideration of all.

aprilsimnel's avatar

@Bluefreedom – They won; pack your bags!

Bluefreedom's avatar

@aprilsimnel. I am so there! <<<<packing>>>>

dannyc's avatar

None..they should abolish this nationalist propaganda machine and replace it with a true world sporting event with no countries, borders, or trappings of divisive politics..then i am on board..
