You need a little more on your resume than “Not convicted of Felonies”.

What skills and experience do you have, what educational standard do you hold, where are you, what sort of work do you want?

I was working with the disabled and lost my job due to background checks.

Are these charges pending, or have you been through the judicial process and found not guilty?

Are you suggesting that you have Criminal charges, but less serious than felonies? Or have you been charged with felonies but not convicted? If so there a number of both charitable and Government Institutions in most parts of the world who help with things like this. Have you looked for such an institution?

I’m confused… you’re looking for a place that hires felons, yet you’re not a felon?

try to find a job at a kiosk in a mall, that is where me and my family works, they didn’t do background checks or anything on us.

Even if someone is charged with a felony and it never goes to court, there’s still a record.

Heck, even if I’m simply charged with a felony, my employer can terminate my employment. Even if it’s not work related in any way.

@robmandu That should be illegal, IMO. I find it asinine that someone could be fired (or not hired) simply because they were accused of a crime… Anyone can be accused of something. All it takes is a nutball with a good story, and a DA unwilling to risk their story being fabricated…

I agree. Always wondered at the motivations there.

I expect it’s likely not an automatic thing in most cases. Most likely a judgment call by management.

Still, when trying to get hired, you don’t want anything in the way that’ll slow down your evaluation. That’s almost an instant disqualifier since there are often several viable candidates applying for a given position.

This is a rather confusing question.

There is one solution to this problem that will always work, assuming you can pull it off: self-employment.

Work for a bricklayer or roofer. They hire felons.

There are some jobs where they won’t do a background check on you. I’m a part-time delivery guy for Pizza Hut, and though I don’t have any felony convictions I do know two guys who do. They simply didn’t list them on their applications, and I’m not going to turn them in because I like both of them. However, if they tried to get into management (and would be then handling large amounts of cash) then a background check would be done. Drivers make more in that job than managers do anyway, so what’s the difference.
I can tell you that if I had felony convictions, I would lie and say I didn’t on all my applications. What’s the worst thing that can happen? They find out about it and don’t hire you. But someone else will.

Nightclubs and certain bars need bouncers.

Work under the table for contract laborers. Also, many small businesses don’t do background checks.
