What lead you to your current favorite form of relaxation and why?

Asked by Naked_Homer (2160points) October 13th, 2009

What was it that sparked your interest. Was it a friend? An attempt to show interest in something that someone you were interested in was interested in also? You saw something on TV on it? Read about it in a book?

What is keeping you interested now that you found it? Why would the rest of us like it? Why don’t you think it is for everyone?

Have you tried something you thought for sure you would love and couldn’t give it up fast enough?

I’m not allowed to relax.

Sex

Also boxing is something I will do for as long as I can. Besides sex it is the ultimate form of stress relief.

My favorite form of relaxing is driving and listening to music. I’m a new driver, so driving is still enough of a challenge to keep me really alert. Actually, that doesn’t sound relaxing at all…

@Haleth – My brother and my best friend and I used to do that in high school too. It was so relaxing.

Painting. It takes everything else out of my head while I’m focusing on the art. It’s almost hypnotic, and after I’m done, my stress level is down about 100 notches compared to what it was before I started.

Yoga – All you can focus on is breathing and trying to control your body to get into the pose as close as possible. It tunes out the mind and warms, tones, and stretches the body simultaneously. Afterwards you feel all wrung-out and floppy and completely relaxed. It’s been especially good for me, because it’s helping me undo the mind-body disconnect that resulted from childhood sexual abuse.

I like to sit on a swing in my backyard and look out into the woods behind my house. It’s so relaxing for me that I’ll even do it during a snowstorm. I’ve always loved the outdoors, so I’ll take any chance I get to just sit and listen to the wind, birds and other wildlife .

Walking. I’ve always loved it and in recent years have found it more and more enjoyable. I just came in from a long walk down to the ocean after gettting in from work. I find it helps me think; yet there is a nice balance between connecting to the outside world – herons, dogs, fallen leaves – and mulling over problems in my mind.

I just bought a house I plan to retire to.
No cable TV, no internet yet.
I go up there on a weekend, and read, or work sudoku’s, or projects around the house.
I never want to come home.

@jonsblond and @janbb: Getting out in nature is very soothing to me to, on a mental and emotional level. I love looking at the stars or clouds; the leaves rustling in the wind, or ripples on the water. It calms me and makesme feel insignificant and yet connected to everything all at the same time.

A nice walk or hike invigorates me physically, but in a positive way, rather than stressed-out, and I do feel a sense of serenity when I am done.

A nice hot mug of tea, and cake if it is available …yes I am British, just the act of making the Tea lets me know that I am about to sit down and do absolutely nothing but breathe for a while and mull over the days trials and tribulations.

There are many other things I do to relax including walking and such but Tea is more convenient most of the time.

It was My games for a while (grew up with them really) but certain things have gotten in the way of that, so now it’s hanging out with friends.
If you meant alone, then I have some books that need reading. Just always enjoyed wrapping my mind in a good story.

Sitting on a secluded beach under the sun listening to the waves crash with a cold beverage, a beautiful woman, and my dog.

Open water distance swimming. It’s like hiking, except there’s the possibility that you could drown. :^>

There’s a lot of water in Seattle, and I’ve always liked being in the water. I missed it terribly for the decades I lived in the desert. I started swimming in a pool a lot and then got tired of it closing. The lake never closes. You never have to share a lane. It’s great exercise and feels good to do. You get views you’d never get anywhere else. There are a lot of lake access spots, so the swim can be different every day. It’s free.

I discovered weed through this girl who I had a crush on and pressured me to smoke with her one day after school. It violated all my uber-Christian morals and just made me tired and hungry, Now that I later tried quality product, I find it a fantastic way to mellow out after a stressful day at work. A joint and a few cups of tea make me pleasant and care free.

What lead you to my current favorite form of relaxation and why? A vagina and tits, like all mastubators fantasize. Why? I don’t question God’s wonders.

Before I have to speak (and feeling more tense than usual) I like to sit in the bath tub with my notes. This is when I am trying to relax…and it works for me.
