Sol ee

If you click on the merriam-webster link, you can hear it pronounced for you.

Technically, it’s pronounced SOL – LEE (both “L” sounds are pronounced. But that’s hard to say or understand clearly when spoken quickly, so it often comes out sounding like SOL-EE (or SO-LEE, which would be basically the same thing).

They’re lying to you. It’s pronounced WC-MQ-HXSP, but the “M” is silent.

@ratboy No, no… It’s spelled Raymond Luxury Yacht, but it’s pronounced Throatwarbler Mangrove!

@2late2be: Forget these would-be-comedians. Think of a solo performance (one person singing). The adjective sole means, among other things, the one and only as in a sole bank account as opposed to a joint bank account or the sole member of a club of one.

This could be the new Merriam Webster or www.Dictionary.com thread: I propose a Word of the Day for our friend:

Flunk: To fluther while under the influence (From Zen; Fluther + drunk)

Good job on spelling it right, too! I ALWAYS misspell it. Thank goodness for spell check!
