Is it okay to leave the fish tank light out?

once in a while my daughter turns the light off, saying saving electric is this good for the fish. I don't think so.

It depends on the location of the tank and the kind of fish. Light is best put on a timer to mimic real day cycles. It is very important in some species of aquatic life.

Fish need light to regulate their waking and sleep patterns.
