How can I watch BBC programs in the U.S.

I want to watch “Bearwalker of the Northwoods” on the BBC, but according to their website it is available in the U.K. only.

Does anyone know of an online resource (internet tv?) to watch BBC shows in the USA?

I watch em on you tube and the daily mail has links. Don’t know if it has that show though

Netflix. You have to pay for the subscription but it’s only 15.00 monthly. You could go to their website and see if they have that show. They have some online movies and others they ship to your home. I know they have BBC ones.

I have a Netflix account. Does it come with BBC access or is that an extra charge?

I just checked and Netflix doesn’t offer this show. kicks floor

@timothykinney Dang that sucks! I’ve got quite a few BBC movies/shows from Netflix so was hoping yours was on there as well (no extra charge).

I get them on our Comcast service.

I pirate them with either isohunt or Surf the Channel.

@Bugabear Thanks! BBC iPlayer looks really promising.

Great question.
I emailed BBC to ask them the same question because they have so many shows I want to watch. Their answer was ’ no you cannot watch our shows online’. That was it – no further help.

So I researched it…
What you need – to be able to watch them all – is a UK IP number. That way the BBC computer will think you are in the UK. I am not very computer savvy so I am not sure how that would work in reality. If anyone does please let us know!
Or you can search the torrent sites, isohunt is good, and download it. Unfortunately not all shows are available that way.

Yeah, I tried BBC iPlayer and it said that I couldn’t watch shows because I was not in the U.K.

What you need then is a Proxy that is based in the U.K.. This will give you a U.K. IP and will forward the packets to you in the U.S. (or wherever). But I think you would have trouble finding an IP that can do this “out of the box” because that iPlayer app is not a standard stream. It has some kind of special protocol wrapped around it and I think most Proxy-providers don’t handle special protocols very well.

But if anyone knows of a way (or wants to start a website to make some money off us poor yanks), let me know.
