It’s hard to say definitively what was the funniest but Kevin Smith’s Clerks is certainly one of the most original and funniest.

goodness… Office Space and Wayne’s World are definitely way up on my list. Also, for me, it doesn’t get much better than Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey. I went to a haunted house thing in NYC last week, and I wore my Wyld Stallyns t-shirt, and one of the actors looked at me and yelled, “I am Bill S. Preston Esquire! And this is Ted Theodore Logan! Together we are… WYLD STALLYNS!” while some bloody guy was trying to attack me with a sort of realistic looking chainsaw. It was interesting. But it’s a great movie.

The Big Lebowski was beyond fantastic. I don’t like it because everyone else likes it and it’s a cult hit, I found in a bargain bin at a thrift shop, and was like, “Whaaaa? Bowling and madness? I can dig it!” Essentially picking it up for “Terrible/B Movie Night” and was surprised immensely.

@Anon_Jihad – NEVER be surprised at the quality of a Coen Brothers movie. Out of 14 movies that they’ve made, there are only 2 which I personally can’t wholeheartedly recommend….Intollerable Cruely because it was just a bit too close to the romcom formula for my tastes, and A Serious Man because I haven’t yet had the opportunity to see it. They have made some of the most brilliant, subversive, offbeat, dark comedy/tragedy/dramas in film history over the course of the last 25 years. I would say if you liked Lebowski, of their other work, if you haven’t already seen it, you should check out Raising Arizona, Barton Fink, O Brother Where Art Thou and Burn After Reading…all of these have a similar comedic feel and timing and offbeat point of view that made Lebowski such a gem. But really, in my book, you just can’t go wrong with a Coen brothers movie.

@dalepetrie Regarding the Coens: I love Lebowski, Fargo, O Brother, Millers Crossing, Barton Fink, No Country, and Blood Simple. I have trouble recommending Intolerable Cruelty, Hudsucker Proxy, The Lady Killers, and Burn After Reading. I really want to see A simple man, but I am a bit worried.

Well know I’m more educated on them boys, and I absolutely loved the crap out of Burn After Reading, and even Intolerable Cruelty, but then again I’m a sucker for Clooney. I’ve got Miller’s Crossing, Fargo, and Crimewave on my comp to watch asap.

I loved the Hudsucker Proxy, kind of a subversive, dramatic Office Space, very insightful look into the corprate world. Lady Killers I thought could have been better, by their standards it was weak, but compared fairly to other films in general, I really liked it. And Burn After Reading, just Brad Pitt’s performance alone made that movie for me. It was a tight caper flick, a lot like Raising Arizona I felt, but funnier and perhaps a bit slower. Intollerable Cruelty was my least favorite of their films, but it wasn’t unwatchable, I just wouldn’t expect much.
