No. Not a bonfire. Just a Guy Fawkes Day / poppy fundraiser meetup at a pub. I don’t think you can have a fire in NYC without getting into major trouble.

I’ve got all my poppies sorted too.
One on the front of my car, a sticker on the rear window, a poppy tax disc holder and of course one to wear. Plus my Help for Heroes wristband.
Good to here your celebrating all this Englishness over there too!

No. I haven’t attended one for a few years now. Mainly because one of my dogs is absolutely terrified of all the fireworks that go off around the neighbourhood so I don’t like to leave her on her own in the evening at this time of year. I’m not bothered though, I have a nice working fireplace in my front room, I’ll just sit and watch that while I keep an eye on the Terrier!

@Leanne1986 Yeah not good for the furry friends this time of year!

Am going to the Nottingham Forest Recreation Ground where they are having a Bonfire night. I am not so much interested in the fireworks as I am in what they might be doing down there.

Most Texans have never heard of Guy Fawkes or his Day, and even with the current spate of rain most of the state still has a burn ban in place.

So, sadly, no, I will not be attending a bonfire tonight. However, in certain parts of town there will be pistols going off. We tend to have a lot of drive-by shootings in some neighborhoods.

I love Bonfire Night, we’re going to Hebden Bridge Bonfire on Saturday (they are rarely on the 5th nowadays)

We’re off to Hebden Bridge as it’s my wife’s home town, I’m from York where Guy Fawkes was from and there is no longer an official bonfire (the council decided to spend more on Xmas Lights as it brings in more shoppers). It’s a real shame that York don’t have an official event anymore. The school in York called St. Peters (where Guy Fawkes went) has never celebrated Bonfire night, as the headmaster there said to my friend “We don’t burn our Old Boys at St Peters!”

just a bit of useless trivia for you there

Learned something new…never heard of this before.

@RedDenver Thanks for sharing the photos! I’d never seen such a large bonfire before!

@Ame_Evil what do you think they might be doing down there? I’m intrigued.

I live I in an area called the Isle of Axholme where’s there’s many many pubs but only two were celebrating. One was having a bonfire but no fireworks and one was having fireworks but no bonfire!
I opted for the fireworks!!
All done now just the drinking to carry on with.

We don’t mark Guy Fawkes day, but if we did, it would not be with bonfires. Most fires are against the law in the entire state of California. Even campfires require a permit.
