Given your current health habits, how will you look/feel in 10 years?

Asked by astrojams1 (149points) November 8th, 2009

Results lag behind habits. If you assume you’ll eat and exercise just as you did today, how will you look/feel in 10 years? If you could see how you’d look in 10 years based on your current health habits, would that motivate you to be more healthful?

I think I will feel sexy and flexible and energized.

Ditto what @Simone_De_Beauvoir said because of her yoga suggestions =)

I will feel great.. just like today.. I’ll just be 10 years older.

I currently do a great deal of commuting by bike or walking to work, recreational cycling, hiking and backpacking. I’m also vegetarian, so I eat pretty well. No plans to stop doing either of those in the next 10 years, so I think I will feel and look pretty good.

Oh, and of course if the alcohol I drink continues to preserve me as it does now, I should do even better! :)

If I don’t change my eating habits or lack of exercise I think in ten years I’ll feel pretty lazy and depressed. As of right now I can eat all the junk I want without having any weight gain. I’m sure that will change one day so I should probably start preparing.

I’m gonna look great! And feel great, too!

I should be six feet taller, less wrinkles the ability to jump over buildings and the strength of a thousand dragcars…. Or shorter, more wrinkles and longer nose hair. Wanna make out? It could go either way. It’s a coin toss.

I should be pretty darn fit. Or dead. My exercise tends to be a bit more extreme than most.

I hope I will have lost ten to twenty pounds by then. If I have, I may continue to enjoy activities that put a pounding on my body. Otherwise, I’ll have to find activities that don’t put as much stress on my joints and bones.

I will be older, slower, greyer, and if I am lucky, heavier. Of course, my knees and arches will find the extra weight none too pleasant. I’ve always been about 20 lbs underweight. I’m too tall for how much I weigh.

I think I’ll be fine, but once my metabolism slows down (it’s lightning fast right now), I’m going to have to change.

Even younger.

I am 65 and wow it is hard to think of being 75 cuz that seems realllllllllly old. But I get around pretty well for 65 so all I can do is keep going and in 10 years still be going but perhaps not as fast as I go now!

I have this thing about exercise, I don’t think I like it but I really don’t like the way I feel if I don’t do it. So everyday right around lunch time, I take the pup and either go for a run or a bike ride or swim laps. I feel so damned good when I finish and then can eat a huge lunch and not feel guilty or gain weight. Tennis my first love so hopefully when we move there will be a good tennis club in town and I can play again.

@rooeytoo You’re 65? For some reason I always thought you were in your 30s or something…weird…

I hope to be around in a decade… provided that I am I imagine my hair will be mostly silver (yay!), slightly shorter, better muscle tone, wrinklier, fitter, happier, more productive oh no wait, that’s a Radiohead song… still striving to learn something new each day and therefore hopefully wiser, less sleepy, contact lense free if I’ve finally had the guts to get lasek surgery, and hopefully growing some if not most of my own food.

@DominicX & @ItalianPrincess1217 – probably because I look so young in my avatar, hehehehe, no wait, that is my dog and she is a spring chicken, only 2.

I do think that if you act young, people often misjudge your age. Either that or my pic in photobucket is a year or so old so I looked much younger then!

@DominicX little did you know that @rooeytoo is the best lookin’ lady on this site.

I’m currently on one of the strictest diets I’ve ever been on in my life (losing around a pound a week) and I exercise at least 4 times a week. If I can keep this up for a decade (which is the current plan), I should be ripped and lean.

rooeytoo's avatar

@Psychedelic_Zebra – now that definitely deserves a GA, hehehehe, thank you.

@drdoombot that reminds me of the Kip Adotta joke. “I’m on this new diet, I lose 2 and a half pounds a week. In three years I’ll be gone.”
