Can swallowing a lead fishing weight have permanent health implications?

Fishing weights are bitten upon to tighten them against the line and allow the bait to sink. As a kid, I accidentally swallowed one. I’m 28 now, I don’t feel like it impacted me in any significant way. I never got around to investigating the issue.
