What's a good song to use for a newborn baby boy video?

Asked by kevbo (25672points) February 12th, 2008

My nephew was born yesterday (woohoo!), and I have video of him and my family in the hospital room that I’d like to send out to the clan. What’s a good song to use to glue a montage together?

Something sentimental and optimistic, but not overly emotional or dramatic.

Paul Simon, “Born At The Right Time” from the Graceland album.

Not sure if it fits your taste, but here’s one…

Raymond Scott – Soothing Sounds For Baby

3 volumes:
Vol. 1 is for 1–6 months babies
Vol. 2 for 6–12 months old
Vol. 3, 12–18 months.

Here’s a place you can buy it and preview some tracks

It’s also possible to acquire it from the iTunes store.

This is experimental electronics form the early days. Possibly ate 50s or early 60s(?).

“Born at the Right Time” is a good one, but it’s from Rhythm of the Saints, not Graceland.
Also, it might not be what you’re looking for, because it’s a bit sentimental and dramatic, but the question made me think of Creed’s song “With Arms Wide Open.”

Is ‘Beautiful Boy’ by John Lennon too sappy?

Thanks all for the suggestions. I think I’m settling on Little Bird of Heaven by Reeltime Travelers

(the non live version is much cleaner)

nice choice kevbo—i would also recommend American Pie by Don McLean and America by Simon & Garfunkle

And honestly if i ever have a baby, the first music I would play to my child would be Imagine by John Lennon (although I would like to play some Pink Floyd but it might sound scary)

Anyone curious about the video… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xqB49sEuQ6M

Not my best work, but iMovie crashed about six times today.

Blessed Be, by Raffi is a great song for either baby boy or baby girl.
