How should i go about creating a Social site for a business?

what is the price range to build a social site for busines or is it better to design the site layout and functions the best way a layman can and then have a application person build-out the functions. thank you

This depends on what type of functions you want to include on your site and its size.

If you just want to have a site to collaborate documents and post news, then Microsoft SharePoint would be perfect for that.
