What do you put in your Jello?

Asked by Capt_Bloth (2703points) November 13th, 2009

I’m making Jello again, and I thought it would be a great time to ask another Jello related question.
I love to make strawberry Jello with bananas. I know some people like grapes, but this is how I was raised.
A related question: I only have grape Jello and the only fruit I have are bananas, clementines, and a mango. Should I add any of these, or just leave well enough alone?

what is a clementine?

dpworkin's avatar

My mom used to use bananas, so I hate them. Clementines sound good.

toomuchcoffee911's avatar

Pineapple. Mmmmm.

I don’t think bananas or mango would go with grape jello, and the clementine pieces might be hard to eat.

Back in the day, I used to make a good jello thing with strawberry jello, crushed pineapple, and walnuts in two layers with sour cream in between. It was surprisingly good, I’m ashamed to say.

Vodka goes great with jello :)

RedPowerLady's avatar

okay I googled it, in case any other person is as dense as me here it is

@gggritso GA

I’ve never much cared for jello…

Capt_Bloth's avatar

@RedPowerLady It’s something Huckleberry hound used to sing about.

janbb's avatar

@RedPowerLady Sorry for not answering. They taste sort of like tangerines but have no pits and are a little tarter. Very good.

nzigler's avatar

Scotch. It also goes great on cereal.

Capt_Bloth's avatar

So nobody thinks banana-grape? I wasn’t sure.
@janbb They say “easy to peel, sweet as candy” I’ve never found them to be tart.

RedPowerLady's avatar

@Capt_Bloth lol, I do have that song stuck in my head at this very moment

@janbb thanx for describing the taste, i want to try one now :)

As far as the jello goes, banana grape does not sound appealing to me at all. In fact the oranges and grape sound better to me.

I like to put strippers in my jello and have them wrestle. In college i would have sorority girls in my jello… an occasional female faculty member just to change things up.
But since I am now taken the only thing I am allowed to put in my jello is a spoon or my face. Growing up’s a bitch.

Capt_Bloth's avatar

@Dr_C Maybe I don’t like strippers in my Jello, the flavor is just off.

Dr_C's avatar

@Capt_Bloth well that would depend on the quality of stripper i guess… i always get fresh, free-range strippers… they go better with the jello IMHO.

Capt_Bloth's avatar

@Dr_C Any type of jello?

Jude's avatar

Bananas.

Although, I prefer Jello pudding to the jiggly Jello kind.

Capt_Bloth's avatar

@jmah I make my own pudding, but I love the pudding cups, especially Swiss Miss. They’re my secret shame. My cat loves them too, but he only eats Snack Pack.

Dr_C's avatar

@Capt_Bloth I usually go for lime but grape ain’t bad… however Chocolate swiss miss is by far superior to either. Just sayin’

Jude's avatar

@Capt_Bloth you make your own? I’d love the recipe. :) Nothing like butterscotch pudding (from Jello), still a bit warm with a dollop of real whipped cream. The Cos approves.

janbb's avatar

My-T-Fine chocolate pudding still hot from the pan was one of my childhood indulgences.

RedPowerLady's avatar

okay I am so craving pudding right now

janbb's avatar

Maybe we can put pudding on our pancakes??

eponymoushipster's avatar

four cups of lady

janbb's avatar

@eponymoushipster You are so consistent it makes me laugh!

eponymoushipster's avatar

@janbb many people enjoy my consistency – it’s been described as pudding, with a hint of mashed potatoes.

janbb's avatar

No banana in your pocket?

janbb's avatar

that sounds ass-backwards, :-) (and now I’m blushing,)

gggritso's avatar

@DominicX When it comes to putting vodka in things, the more you consume the better it tastes!

Chikipi's avatar

I usually make the green apple jello. I cut little square pieces of granny smith apples and dunk half in caramel.

Capt_Bloth's avatar

@Chikipi That sounds really good, and really sweet.

jeffgoldblumsprivatefacilities's avatar

Alcohol. Matter of fact, you can just skip the jello and go straight for the alcohol.

Foolaholic's avatar

Calculators. Can’t believe nobody said this yet.

aprilsimnel's avatar

Pineapples.

What was the thing Jello had a recipe for? Where you poured the liquid jello into a sheet cake or something?

noelasun's avatar

I like to make “sparkling jello” and put some carbonated drink into my jello. You know, to be honest, I’m not sure if it tastes all that different, but it certainly looks prettier!

And with jello, looks are half the fun!

it’s alive!

augustlan's avatar

I don’t like anything at all in my jello (except alcohol, occasionally). It’s a texture thing… plain or not at all.

casheroo's avatar

@augustlan Same here.

and seriously? a world without clementines @RedPowerLady? you’ve been missing out.

RedPowerLady's avatar

@casheroo I always just avoided the smaller oranges. I must taste one now. :)

Capt_Bloth's avatar

@augustlan nothing in your jello, that makes me sad.

augustlan's avatar

@Capt_Bloth Don’t be sad. You can put anything you want in yours! :P

Capt_Bloth's avatar

@augustlan It’s just the idea of you eating plain old boring jello. Do you at least make jigglers?

filmfann's avatar

Pineapple in lime
Mandarin oranges in Orange
Carrot slivers in Orange
Bananas in Strawberry
pears in Raspberry or strawberry

rangerr's avatar

Nothing goes in grape jello except for vodka.

pinkparaluies's avatar

You can put things in jell-o!?
Good grief. This is an amazing topic!!!
