Is the week between Christmas and New Year's the best for sales, or do things go even further on sale after Jan. 1?

I love shopping AFTER the Christmas season, but I want to maximize the savings and I'm looking for the nadir...

After January 1st everything is on sale. Because the holiday season is pretty much over. I would look for greath bargains then.
