Would it be possible to install a secondary car stereo along with the factory unit?

Asked by pattyb (794points) February 16th, 2008 from iPhone

I have a factory unit in my mazda but its tied into the in dash navagation system. So I cannot swap out. There is no jack to plug in my iPod. (no casste.either) I have tried many fm transmitters (all poor & unacceptable) can I get a head unit and stick of in the glove comp , wire it up to the existing speakers, and not interfere with the stock unit.

yes but they also make a device (permanent ipod dock)that connects to the radio and mounts in your glove box. It works great I have seen and heard one. I have seen them for sale at Best Buy.
