Will Putting A download Link on my blog take up bandwidth?

Tumblr has a new code when, every time i uploaded a mp3, or use a External Mp3 (from fileden) A download link would appear, so followers can download the Song.

is it true that if i put the code into my blog, when someone download it, more of my bandwidth would be taking up?

A link is nothing more than a pointer to a file (a page is just a file too). So if that link is pointing to a file that is hosted on your webserver, than yes. But if you point to a file that is stored on another website, than no.
