I need help with airline ticket info?

Asked by Sheriff_fan (110points) December 2nd, 2009

I want to buy an airline ticket, but is there anyway that I can buy it that day AT the airport? And does it cost more if I do? (flying to eastcoast(in the states)).

Yes, it will cost you more, and depending on the day you’re planning on flying, you may not be able to get a flight. If you don’t have a credit card to book online, you could get a prepaid cash card. I believe Northwest and Southwest may take PayPal.

what is a prepaid cash card

@PandoraBoxx answered it nicely.. Just out of curiosity, may I ask why you want to do this?

Several different places sell them, like Walmart’s Greendot card, or AAA prepaid travel cash card. You give them money and they give you a card that’s like a gift card, but it’s mastercard or visa sponsored. You can use them for online purchases, travel, etc.

Or you can book the ticket through customer service for the airlines, and ask them if you can pay in advance at the airport.

If you buy it at the airport, you usually have to pay full price. Go to your airline’s website and check prices. The most expensive ones tend to be ‘full fares.’

Also, if you buy it at the airport on the day of travel the TSA automatically flags you for extra screening. At least they did.

@MissAnthrope: Several unexplainable reasons. no unexplainable….i just don’t want to say them

Yes, you can order the tickets in advance either on the phone or computer, and pay for them at the airport, or you can simply show up and buy a ticket there. They will nearly always cost more doing it that way.

Without knowing your departure, destination and dates, it is impossible to quote a dollar amount, because all airlines have different prices on different days. For instance, to fly from San Francisco to La Guardia, New York tomorrow, could cost anywhere between $171 to $414 depending on the time and day you choose, and how you purchase the ticket.

when is the least expensive and what airline?

YARNLADY's avatar

If you purchase tickets 21 Days in advance from Southwest Airlines, you will most likely get the lowest price. There are some ‘bargain’ prices on every airline that will be offered at random, unpredictable times, so you would just have to watch and wait to catch one of them. I have a “ding” account with Southwest Airlines that notifies me by e-mail when one of their specials is coming up.

@MrItty – Or something.. I get kind of a weird feeling about it, which is why I asked why.. seems kinda odd and fishy.
