Helpless novice in need of help, any YouTube experts out there?

Asked by CaseyWVU10 (550points) December 3rd, 2009

I am setting up a YouTube account and I had trouble with the setup, but I got through it. Now, when I try to add videos to my favorites, YouTube says I need to confirm the email address. I have already received my account confirmation at the email address I gave them. When I go to my account on YouTube’s website, it says, “You signed in via Google, so you should click here to change your Google email.” Does YouTube set up a gmail account when you get a YouTube account? I don’t even have a gmail account. Sooo confused, please help

You need to use the same email for your Google account to activate your YouTube account.
If you do not have a Google account you need to set one up. However it sounds like you, or someone on your computer already has a Google account.

my youtube account is hooked up through my hotmail email account… i don’t even have a gmail account. my advice would be, make sure you actually clicked on the link in the email saying welcome to youtube. something should probably pop up warning you that isn’t an attachment when you do so. just receiving the confirmation email isn’t good enough, you actually have to click on the link to confirm that your email is your email and you’re not a robot.
