Low cost liability insurance?

Asked by emilyrose (2272points) February 20th, 2008

I am starting my own consulting business and have to get liability insurance. Sadly I got denied from a really cheap deal… another person told me her plan was $500, but I have seen it as low as $250. Anyone else gone though this?

Try a local insurance broker in your area. Stay away from the big national companies because they have more overhead and they have to pay the commission of the agent who writes you. Plus, they do not have an a la carte service…what you see is what you get. Brokers generally get paid a smaller commission because they are not exclusive to the company that they pitch and usually can find a company that is willing to work on your terms to tailor a plan to suit your needs. Your liability insurance should not be that much unless you are making fireworks or munitions or something crazy like that.

I don’t know if you still need the info, I just thought I would help out an orphan question and maybe make a friend. If you still need help, send me a comment and I can look into more options for you.
