In English, what does the Chinese spoken at the dinner in Funny People mean?

My friend I saw it with speaks chinese, and she said that his accent was bad enough that she didn’t catch most of it from just seeing it once. When the kids say “Baba bu yao” though, they’re saying “Daddy don’t want” which is pretty hysterical.

Anyone else know the rest?

That movie was terrible! My sister and her Chinese speaking friend rented it over Thanksgiving holiday and we also were curious what was being said, never figured it out.

Despite the ridiculousness that it descended into, I strangely, uh… liked it. At least I realized it was completely absurd, right? :)

I thought Funny People was great ― Pagliacci discovers he’s dying and picks a promising kid to mentor as his last act. The scene where he’s just found out he’s dying and he has to stop and smile for fans’ pictures on the way out of the hospital captured a perspective on fame that we don’t see all that often.

They’re speaking Mandarin, saying Baba bu yao. The father asks them if they was brussel sprouts, they respond with “I don’t want, daddy”. (Baba= dad, bu yao= don’t want)
