Is it okay to wish people you don't know Happy New Year?

I am enjoying all the comments and questions from everyone on fluther, and want to thank you all and wish you a Happy New Year!

Of course it's okay! And a happy New Year to you, too, sfinkel. You mean no one's responed to this? Hmphh. Check out earthcalendar.net for an only resource of every conceivable holdiday - lot's of variation in when people celebrate the new year. Wiki has a good page:
