What is a great movie or book in which a character suddenly and mysteriously disappears? I’m looking for things like “Bunny Lake is Missing” or the Jodie Foster movie “Flightplan. Wasn’t there a TV movie in the 70s with this idea? Any TV episodes like this? Any ideas?

There was a Star Trek TNG episode where the whole crew disappeared one by one. I have no idea how you can find it.

TV shows like “Without a Trace” and “The Forgotten”. Also, check out the Kathy Reichs novels. I know they’re crime novels.

Put the title “Vanished” into Amazon’s book search and you’ll find an assortment of them.

Letters from the Inside is a fantastic piece of YA literature that fits the bill. I read it probably in sixth or seventh grade and it has stuck with me since then. If you’re an adult, don’t let the fact that it is YA throw you off—it is still very good and you can always think of it this way: a YA novel, when read by an adult, will last about as long as a movie.
