Why can't I answer any questions on Fluther?

Asked by Qwertymuffin411 (550points) December 11th, 2009

Every time I click on a question to answer it, it says it’s being edited and to try again in a minute or two. I’ve tried to answer multiple questions at multiple times, but it comes up with that screen every single time!

Because you clicked on it after it was flagged for being in need of editing.

It sounds like the questions you are choosing to answer keep getting modded for various reasons..
Give it a few minutes and it should be back. If not, then the asker decided not to edit anymore.
Answer some new questions in the meantime [:

You’re just picking very unlucky questions to answer.

I get this a lot too. I thought it was because the asker was editing it, however one of them has been giving me said message for like the past half hour…so maybe it’s in a moderation queue or something?
If a question gets deleted, do you get a different message? Not entirely sure, just got here anyways.

so maybe it’s in a moderation queue or something?

Correct. It was sent back to the writer for clarification/improvement/etc. Until the original poster re-writes it, it is unavailable.

In some ways because we are experiencing an influx of users, there is a higher than normal chance that a question you click on will be pushed to editing. With a lot of new users, we get a lot of duplicate or overly chatty questions. Especially when something scandalous has happened with another site and the new users coming from that site want to discuss it. That’s why we’ve opened the AB chat room.

It depends on whose modding: there are some trigger-happy mods who keep all the new questions afloat til they hunt and peck their reasons. ~
