You mean openly gay mayor. :-)

bit of a tie between Houston, TX & Portland, OR – both voted them in openly

La_chica_gomela's avatar

@NadaNormal: Sorry but Houston is A LOT bigger city than Portland.

Klaus Wowereit – Berlin, since 2001, most notable quote: “I am gay, and that’s a good thing.”

@ragingloli: Sorry, counting mayor-elect Parker, Houston is still the largest city in the world with an openly homosexual mayor.
Population of Berlin: 3,416,300
Population of Houston: 5,728,143

@La_chica_gomela
Not so.
Berlin:
Population (2008–12-31)
– City 3,431,700
– Density 3,848/km2 (9,966.2/sq mi)
– Urban 3,700,000
– Metro 5,000,000

Houston
Population (2007)[1][2]
– City 2,242,193
– Density 3,828/sq mi (1,471/km2)
– Urban 3,822,509
– Metro 5,728,143

You are comparing the city stats of Berlin with the metro stats of Houston, which doesn’t work.

La_chica_gomela's avatar

I’m talking about all the people who are eligible to vote for the mayor of either city—what are you talking about ?

Besides, even the stats you posted say Houston is bigger than Berlin.

ragingloli's avatar

Then shouldn’t you confirm that it is really 5.7 million people who can vote for the mayor? Because I doubt that. If we go by the city stats, Berlin is larger, and if we add up all numbers, Berlin is still larger.

La_chica_gomela's avatar

I live in Houston. I voted for her. She’s the mayor-elect of all of Houston, not just inside the loop. I don’t need to confirm it with you.

ragingloli's avatar

good. then i don’t need to confirm it with you that berlin is larger

Parker is mayor-elect of Houston, population 2,245,108*

People in Galveston, Pasadena, Sugar Land, etc. are not in Houston and do not vote in Houston elections.
