My nephew. He just got his learner’s permit. The details are just too frightening.

I see alot of “garden variety” road rage-people cutting each other off, interesting ways of waving to each other, speeding, tailgaiting, but the weirdest was when I saw a girl do a 360 about 30 feet in front of me!I don’t know how she managed it.I just happened to glance up(yes,I’m up for that award too)and there she was spinning around. She then kept going down the road like nothing happened.lol!

Some mindless little twit talking on a cellphone, weaving all over the road and pulling out from a stop sign while ignoring oncoming traffic. Idiots!

Beverly Hills, CA: Guy in center lane decides, while in the middle of an intersection, he meant to be turning left. Attempts to do so despite all the cars going straight in the left lane.

@Ghost_in_the_system: My daughter just got her learner’s permit too.
Hope your nerves are better than mine.

I cannot even believe the bad driving that takes place where I live outside of Memphis. I don’t know if I can think of one significant event that happened recently?? Almost daily I encounter horrible drivers. Most people do not signal here. They rarely let you in when you are signalling. They seem unable to deal with a four-way stop. Looking forward to the winter, people here fail to realize that you cannot brake well on ice.

From what i heard the worst drivers are Idaho people. There is even a “famous potatoes” written on the plate! loool my god! potato drivers lol

It’s been snowing here recently, so there’s been loads of disastrous driving from all the freshmen from out of state who’ve never driven on snow. In the past week, I’ve actually witnessed 3 fender benders, and seen the after-effects of at least 10 more.

A guy watching TV while driving.

Fucking old people holding everyone up here. They go 40 in a 50 and brake from 50 to 35 to cross some fucking railroad tracks that aren’t even used! AHHHHHHHahakheflwjif[wermacmcfoaefgn nfgwrfe

CaptainHarley's avatar

@blackberry Define “old.”

Blackberry's avatar

@CaptainHarley I’m talking about actual, really old people, they have to be 70s, 80s, and probably 90s lol. They have both hands on the wheel and staring forward as if it’s obvious they can’t even see.

SABOTEUR's avatar

@Blackberry: I’ll exchange you your old people for my cell phone users and texters.

Blackberry's avatar

@SABOTEUR Lol….Umm, nevermind, I guess the elderly people aren’t so bad.

SABOTEUR's avatar

@Blackberry : THOUGHT you’d change your mind…!

Supacase's avatar

@Blackberry I have seen some elderly drivers who should clearly not be behind the wheel.

Most dangerous and ridiculous thing I have witnessed is reading a book while driving on the interstate.

I didn’t witness it, but the worst bit of driving I have known lately is my nephew running a stop sign and totaling his mom’s SUV.

Aurora Ave… well pretty much the whole trip. It’s one thing to run red lights, but when those red lights are on the back of a car, maybe you should consider either stopping or going around?

People here are so bad that it’s hard to single out “worst” (though the person who lost their headlight pulling out of our driveway sticks out because it was less than 8 hours ago) because nobody seems to realize that there are actually other vehicles on the road. My friend had the same issue when he drove a 27-foot, bright red Kenworth.

So basically anytime you want to do anything that even remotely involves other cars, you have to be really careful here. Such activity includes (but is not limited to) being in front of them, being beside them, left turns, right-on-red, or parking.

Woman on a cell phone at a red light, first car in line. While involved in her conversation she slowly rolled out into the middle of the intersection. Cross traffic screeched to a halt to avoid hitting her. Multiple horn blasts five feet from her head finally brought her back to earth.

About 3 week ago I was driving down down the freeway when I noticed a black Jetta not maintaining his lane. I was getting kinda concerned after the car almost side swiped two others that were passing it, so I rolled up next to them too see if they were ok, and to my astonishment, sitting Indian style in the drivers seat was a boy who looked to be about 16. There was a girl passenger sleeping with the seat reclined and neither of them had seat belts on. He had the cruise control on and was driving with only his index fingers on the steering wheel while he was texting. I must have laid on the horn about 6 times before he looked up at the road in front of him then over to me. He just gave me a dirty look and started texting again. So I slid back behind him called the Highway Patrol let them know what was going on and it took them about 10 min. to show up. I hope they lifted the little dumb ass’s license.

jerv's avatar

@Mavericksjustdoinganotherflyby I rarely get that but most people who do notice my car get the impression that I will gladly kill them and then decide to straighten out their act, at least in my presence. A few dents and a big skull on the hood may not draw much attention, but it definitely keeps attention once it’s gotten.

I was walking my daughter home from school and as we were walking with the crossing guard to cross the road a woman drove right through the intersection. Luckily my daughter was holding my hand and not running or she would have been hit.

I always witness jerks speeding out of the parking lot at the local grocery store. I really hate that!

i live in southern cali near la, crappy driving here is the norm

funny you should ask because I saw the craziest thing yesterday… When you get off the highway here the off ramp is shaped like a v so you can either go left or right and it has a stoplight on both sides. Well cars that are on the road that the off ramp joins always want to run the red light, but the way the v is shaped you cannot see them coming if they do run the light. Well an accident had happened (pretty bad one) from someone running the light.

Anyways, as I continued to drive about 2 intersections later the light was red and as we all were waiting to go a jeep slowly coasted into the middle of the intersection in anticipation for the light to turn green. I’m really not sure why though because he JUST witnessed what happens when you do things like that and it had me thinking what is really THAT important that you couldn’t wait the few extra seconds verses being completely t boned at an intersection and being at fault.

CT has horribly impatient drivers

DrasticDreamer's avatar

Just yesterday I saw an SUV blow through a red light to make a turn, and a semi was about a foot away from plowing into them.

jerv's avatar

@sevenfourteen That is why when I lived in NH, we used to dread being within sight of any vehicle with a CT plate. MA drivers may be homicidal, but at least they are competent; if they hit you, it’s because they meant to. CT drivers seemed to think that the world (and all of tthe roads on it) belonged to them and that their parents could buy their way out of violating the laws of physics.

sevenfourteen's avatar

@jerv lol I was almost a masshole but my parents moved to Maine when I was a teen.. I have the “you go first, I’ll wait” when it comes to crazy people like that that is unless I’m late for class
