What Childrens toy hurts the most?

Asked by majorrich (14741points) December 16th, 2009

Of all the toys I’ve given my son (17 now so the danger is past) I personally believe Duplo’s hurt more when stepped on than most any other toy ever devised. I imagine Jacks would be equal, but have no experience. What is the most painful child’s toy for a parent to tread upon?

Every hear of the “CLACKERS”? Well they HURT!!! But as a kid I LOVED ‘EM!!! They ended up being a hazard because they were glass and the glass would chip off and hurt others around. Also they are HARD AS A ROCK and getting “shmucked” with ‘em also hurt like hell! Good Quesion majorrich!!!
.
And I would agree that stepping on those metal jacks HURT TOO! ROFL!

A pet hamster. One of my friend’s parents did that, ended up slipping and falling down a flight of stairs =(

Those damn Lego pieces are hard on the tootsies. Oh, and action figures.

LocoLuke's avatar

Oh, and the hamster wasn’t too well off either.

@jmah OH I totally agree!!! I remember the day. Heck, I have a child that still builds things with ‘em. But they are not scattered all of the floor like when he was 3 yrs old. lol

When I was a kid we were all given a wood-burning kit around our 10th birthday, with a cord about 2’ long. (Jeff Foxworthy’s comedy story about this is entirely true.) Between getting burned, electrically shocked, and/or setting the drapes on fire and getting the tar beaten out of us, I’m going with a wood-burning kit.

Oh, well if we’re not just stepping on ‘em then I think I should end this thread with…

LAWN DARTS

I stepped on an upside down Hot Wheel car and cut my foot….. Took two stitches.

Lawn darts.

I vote Legos.
When my daughter was small & her room was messy, her uncle asked her, “Doesn’t it bother you to have your stuff all over the floor?” She replied, “Only when I step on sharp things.”

Wiffle ball bats. Have you ever seen AFV’s? Guys, and I alone here?...My mistake, I missed the “tread upon” part. Well, then Legos.

jamielynn2328's avatar

I’m gonna have to go with lego’s on this one too. I hate stepping on legos. Action figures take a close second for me. My son has a lot of batman figures and they are not good on the sole…

Legos are the worst I’ve stepped on!

If we include things not trod upon, my vote goes to Slip-n-Slide. So many bruises and skinned body parts due to those things.

Someone recently gave my son Cooties and there are way too many damn little pieces that could be stepped on. Thankfully he always cleans up.

hmm Its a toss up between legos and knex. I have stepped on both as my son has them scattered all over the place.

Yes, CLACKERS! There was a time that they were two hard balls attached to string. Do not think they were glass. Some sort of glass like polymer. You would get them going, they would go out of alignment and nail you in the wrist. People were getting their wrists broken.
Those babies would screw you up good.

I think slap bracelets have been known to kill people. At least that’s what they told us during the Great Slap Bracelet Ban of ‘87.

puckbunny's avatar

@ubersiren You make me feel old. I remember the slap bracelets. I had a few myself. But yeah those things do hurt and have been known to kind of go flying when they didn’t latch onto the wrist the way they were supposed to.

aprilsimnel's avatar

@ChazMaz , @NUNYA I had those, too! We called them Kebangers. And when they shattered, every kid in a 4 foot diameter ran for cover!

NUNYA's avatar

@ChazMaz I never got the broken wrist but my head sure did hurt a time or 6!!!! OUCHIE! I remember getting them things going so darn fast…............out of control!!! HAHAHAHA!
.
@aprilsimnel Yup, that was them. You surely didn’t reach to take them from the person using them. Go running home in tears.

I was talking with my brother on the phone last night and he suggests Weebles. He theorizes the cone-shaped top is carefully engineered to separate the bones of the feet, and they are always pointed up in the ready position.

shpadoinkle_sue's avatar

Skip its! If you miss the right moment . . . ow!

aprilsimnel's avatar

I think we all missed the obvious: Jacks! Don’t step on those bare-footed!

Well…most unfortunately, I sat on a metal helicopter…surrounded by metal action figures ;-(

Need I say more????
