Wolf whistled: insulted or flattered?

Asked by Hypocrisy_Central (26879points) December 16th, 2009

If you were in booty shorts or a short mini, very tight skinny jeans and you got wolf whistled, would you feel you were being objectified and looked upon as “meat”, an object of sex and not as a total human? Would you feel flattered, not only that you were seen but found fetching by men still able to catch their eye, but also because you knew you still had some sex appeal?

Any kind of attention is always flattering! Lol.

If a female is wearing booty shorts or a mini skirt they are already objectifying themselves.
Personally being female I do not get offended by it, unless there are other remarks that follow it that make me feel uncomfortable. But if I get whistled at I usually just smile quietly to myself.

@MRSHINYSHOES I must disagree, I have crossed paths with many creeper in my day.

@MRSHINYSHOES If it were ice cold or snow on the ground in the middle of winter it could be seen as putting themselves on display or doing it intentionally. If it were a very mild spring day or the heat of summer it could be because booty shorts, and or a short skirt was more comfortable, the same way a woman would wear a spaghetti strap tank over a long sleeve cow neck sweater shirt, which in case some women don’t think they should get whistled even if that is the more logical thing that would happen.

@Hypocrisy_Central I just wished women weren’t so sensitive and whiny and take it as a compliment.

@MRSHINYSHOES I just wished women weren’t so sensitive and whiny and take it as a compliment. I think people in general are too thin skinned on a lot of things. Many guys I know would feel like the king of the world if some woman wolf whistled them, and if she said anything further and they didn’t like her because they didn’t see her a “boinkable” they would just make a sarcastic quip and pay her no further mind. I guess guys just take it differently.

@Hypocrisy_Central We men do take it differently. We love the attention women give us, makes us feel good, manly, etc. And we don’t complain about these things like a lot of women do.
