How do I take a video of a game on my computer?

Asked by mathwhiz1 (264points) December 18th, 2009

A while ago, I saw this video on YouTube:

How did this person take this video? At the end of this video, it says that Windows Movie Maker was used. Is there a way to have the computer take the video using Windows Movie Maker? I don’t care about adding a song like on the video above.

Click onto computer, then control panel, then delete certain programs. find the game and click delete. this should do it.

I haven’t tested this (I’m on a Mac) but this is usually suggested.

Fraps Was the standard when I was a bit of a gamer. Any program could be used to capture the video and edit it later in windows movie maker, don’t worry about it.

Also, @john65pennington how is that comment supposed to help? Funny comments are tolerated on Fluther but the policy is to wait until a couple of serious answers are given.

@johnpowell :: Works great too, but it’s not free like your suggestion. I was under the impression it was free though.. bummer.
