Eat less, and eat healthier. Figure out how you relate to food, and if you’re eating for distraction or comfort, find replacements that have lower calories. Find ways of being more active, like parking at the far end of the parking lot when you go shopping or taking the stairs instead of the elevator.

diet is key…try to cut out any processed food and as far as workout goes what my mom does is a few crunches/push ups/jumping jacks in the morning and then repeates those excercises numerous times throughout the day whenever she has a spare 10–15 minutes.

but i can not stress this enough diet is 80% of losing weight, exercise 15&, and supplements (multi vitamin and somehting like fish oil tablets) is 5%

My big trick is just not to buy junk food. Even if your husband and kids eat it, institute a strict policy of only keeping healthy food around, and stick with it. It will be good for all of you.

Instead of chips or cookies, get healthy snack foods like celery and carrot sticks with low fat dip, mini rice cakes, baked tofu, whole grain crackers, fruit…

Also drinking lots of water helps you flush out the fat you burn and helps keep appetite under control.

The best, fastest way is always gonna be eating right AND exercise. There’s no better way. You don’t need to spend hours exercising. All you need is 30 minutes every other day. Do supersets and circuit training for a good strengthening/ cardio workout.

As far as food, stay away from sugars, fast food, and limit your carbs. Eat fives times a day. This means smaller portions at breakfast, lunch, and dinner and a healthy snack between each meal. This will speed up your metabolism. Combine this with exercise and you will burn fat faster. Don’t forget to drink lots of water.

I did Weight Watchers for four months before taking up exercise (which I now do daily) and managed to lose weight. So while it’s ideal to have exercise as well as eating better, you will be able to lose weight without exercise.

You can do Weight Watchers online if you can’t go to meetings! But I truly feel it’s the best way to lose weight if you need some guidance. (And no, I don’t work for them!)

Do things less efficiently. You can also turn almost anything into an opportunity to excersize if you put your mind to it. For instance, while carrying grocery bags, curl them with your arms, while doing dishes, practice squats. While watching TV, do crunches. Exercise can be a lifestyle.

Also, quit caffeine and booze.

If you get worn out, remember it isn’t “hard”, it is “Effective”.

Dance with your kids or do something else active with them.

I would suggest writing down your daily schedule and analyzing where you can trim away a 20 minute timeslot. Set that time aside to get some sort of workout, like aerobics, kickboxing, dancing, walking, etc.

A great way is to get the kids involved. Make an exercise hour or something of the sort. Good luck!

Try not to make your evening meal your heaviest meal of the day. Five meals a day is fine but so are three.
I have no scientific basis for this but a friend mentioned this to me a long time ago and it proved true for me. Of course this is going to work only if you are on a program of limiting caloric intake and occasional exercising.

Never “finish up” your childs’ meals. Take everything you eat and cut it in half. This means everything. At restaurants and at home. Divide in half and only eat half.
