@TominLasVegas Agreed. But also:

When people are shot down for standing up for freedom or justice
When racists like Ahmedinijad are elected president, and those who don’t believe it are killed
When people are attacked for things that they can’t control

Also:

Racism, period.

No. The notion that life has to be fair is just something that we made up, and I don’t think it ever makes us feel better about anything since we hardly ever hear someone say “Wow, life is really fair!”

This does not mean that people shouldn’t believe in or work for or fight for justice from one another. But it’s a human concept and not a law of life.

Yeah people don’t realize how good we have it in america.Say what you want but I’m not being forced to worship a certain religion and my life is not in danger for voting a certain way.

Sure, of course. All the time. Life isn’t fair. Use any one of billions of examples. Whoever said that life was fair? Or that it should be?

@TominLasVegas Exactly. I don’t understand why people complain so much about “oh, this country doesn’t need more illegal immigrants! kill all who aren’t white! i hate all gays and lesbians!” I just want to scream out, ”we live in a free country! And everyone wants to be let in!

@Pseudonym america is far from perfect. But I could never live the way I am anywhere else. I’m happy,I have a good job,a great family,and I can do things that you could never do in other parts of the world.

Reminds me of a favorite quote from Calvin & Hobbs, something along the lines of “Why can’t life be unfair in my favor?”

There are several personal things that make me feel that way sometimes, but some of the beauty in life comes from the fact that life isn’t fair.
So it’s quite hard to dwell on it.

All those stories about police abusing/killing a citizen, then getting a two week vacation with pay. That stuff makes me want to rip my hair out.

When I was a child, I used to believe in “fair”, but I got over that real fast.

Maybe Paris Hilton. She has the makings of a great life. Access to the best education money can buy, the finest home money can buy, life of luxury filled with all the opportunities money can buy and what does she do with it? She is a professional dumb ass. She gets paid more money for being an ignorant dumb ass. Every time I turn around the media is giving attention to her dumb ass exploits or her large over used vagina. I know I might sound just a wee bit bitter and I guess to a degree I am. It’s just I can think of so many useful things which she could be doing. She is in the rare position to be beneficial to her community but instead she is flipping beaver. What a waste.
