HO HO HO Merry Christmas! In the town/city you live in, is there any business open today? What business is it?

Asked by NUNYA (3207points) December 25th, 2009

I live in a small town. Population around 5,500 people. And the only place of business that is open today is “Town Pump” a convenience store. Of course the hospital, fire dept. and police station are always open. So curious if there are any towns that are shut down as tight as my town is. I’d like to add that I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas. Drive Safely back home.

We are in a town of 3000. The only businesses in town are Dollar General, a tanning salon and a barber shop. I think Dollar General was open, but I’m not for sure. I’ve been in my pajamas all day. :)

A few mom and pop businesses, hotels, and motels.

NUNYA's avatar

@azlotto Well sure…...I didn’t think of the Motel/Hotels! Thanks my friend! [hugs]

@jonsblond Being in pajamas all day is so much fun on Christmas Day! Wonderful!

Well I live in New York City, so there are obviously a lot… mostly drug stores, book stores, movie theatres, and, for all of us Jews, Chinese food!

jonsblond's avatar

@NUNYA It is nice, isn’t it. Also, after two days of heavy rain we woke up to snow today. It has been snowing for most of the day. I’m so excited! Merry Christmas to you!

I should add that if I needed to go out for something today I could travel 5 minutes to @JustPlainBarb‘s town to get what I needed. :)

Here in the NT in the middle of nowhere, Christmas is over and now it is Boxing Day. Nothing was open yesterday except the gas station/convenience store for a couple of hours. Even the one soda machine in town was broken. Everything except the gas station is closed on Boxing Day as well, but at least it is open regular hours so we won’t starve or die of thirst, heheheh!

Hope everyone has or had a great Christmas!

I just went to the beer store around the corner. They were open and really busy. The buses were also running. That surprised me. I’m in Portland, Oregon.

I’m in Austin, Texas. All the malls, Best Buy, WalMart, Target, and Walgreens are open. About half the restaurants are open, as are all of the emergency services.

The government and the University are closed, as is the dialysis center.

Some Chinese restaurants are all I know of. Not sure if anything else was open, I just know of those ones because I work in one, and my friends own some other ones.

Concord California here. Open are the gas stations, liquor stores, McDonalds and Jack-In-The-Box.
Closed are Taco Bell and Burger King.

San Diego CA. I must be honest I haven’t left the house today since I’ve been busy eating, lounging and watching the Chargers MURDER the Titans. But I know for a fact that Blockbuster was open.. my sister rented a movie :P

When my son drove over here he said he was surprised to see most of the stores and restaurants open. Only a few were closed.

Yes, the kosher businesses run by the Orthodox Jews in Monsey, NY (near my parents—where I am right now) are open today, but they will close early today, as the Jewish Sabbath begins at sundown on Fridays and the holiday is on Friday this year.
