Application to edit Windows address book contacts?

Asked by HeNkiSdaBro (392points) February 27th, 2008

I have recently imported all my Nokia phone contacts into the Windows address book (WinXP). All these contacts contain not more than the Name and number. In the address book there are already one million email addresses. When I imported the Nokia contacts they did merge together which was good, but I still have lots of duplicates and alternative names and email adresses floating around I’d like to merge into existing names. I am preparing the address book for the iPhone that I have coming. I want to know if there is a better application that can help me merge and edit contacts on the computer.

I have Windows Vista and I just left click on it twice and it opens up.

Well… I don’t have Vista, and therefore not the new address book application. And yes, I do know I can double click a contact to edit it. I wonder if there is a better application for editing contacts.

I ran into this issue also and was surprised at the lack of any software to easily edit the WAB file. The workaround I found was to export my Windows Address Book to a CSV file. Open that in Excel/OpenOffice Calc, edit it as I pleased, and then re-import it into address book. Good Luck!

YES, great suggestion! Actually probably the most powerful way for sure! Thanks!
