Have you had Buffalo milk and what was your experience?

Asked by Zen_Again (9931points) December 26th, 2009

I find it to be creamy and light, almost naturally sweeter than cow’s milk. It’s apparently 9% fat and healthy.

Not tried it. Have had plenty of bull sh*t though. Got sick of it.

How do you milk a buffalo?

AstroChuck's avatar

Do you mean bison milk or buffalo? I’ve had mozzerella made from buffalo milk but I’ve never heard of bison milk before.
Being available, that is.

Ah, it’s water buffalo milk, not give-me-a-home-where-the-buffalo-roam.

Reckon it would make the drinker horny.

Not the milk, but I’ve had the yogurt. It was very rich and yummy.

I’ve had Buffalo gals but not Buffalo milk.

I’ve had bison meat, and knowing the size of those critters, it’d take a brave man to milk one of those girls!

You can’t have milk from a buffalO. That’s a male. (Eeeewww) You can have milk from a buffalA. Mozzarrella di Buffala is delicious. It’s hard to come by in the States because it doesn’t stay fresh very long. It’s a psychological thing, getting past knowing the milk came out of one of those HUGE, hairy creatures. I hear it’s really good…...

@Trillion- It’s not hard to come by where I live (Northern California). They carry it at most supermarkets. You can find it with the gourmet cheeses and it’s more expensive.

Well, first allow me to say that I’m still new to this, so am I supposed to address you as ”@astroChuck”? Anyway, are there a plethora of happy water buffala in northern Cal? I hope you appreciate and avail yourself of this delicious substance. By the time it gets to us in Kentucky, it’s a bit rubbery.

@Trillian there is no difference in the names of herbivores by tacking an O or an A onto the end of the name, unless you are translating it in/from Spanish. A male buffalo is a bull; a female buffalo is a cow. Oddly enough, a female bear is a sow, and a male bear is a boar, same as pigs.
