Have you ever come across a great movie that for some reason it is unknown ? I was given this movie by my aunt as a Xmas present,I had never heard of it nor does anyone I know for that matter but it turned out be a very pleasant surprise.

I loved A Golden Christmas. I had never heard of it before but it was on TV a few weeks ago. I don’t know if it’s exactly unknown, but I had never heard of it.

I just watched one. Other Peoples Lives. It’s a German flick with English subtitles. It’s about the people trapped behind the Berlin wall just prior to the wall coming down. It was very good. I give it two thumbs up!

Escanaba in da Moonlight was a pleasant surprise. I found it at the video store years ago, not knowing a thing about it. There were parts of the movie that had me laughing so hard, I had tears running down my cheek!

Well all movies are known somewhere – but I think Sex is Comedy is a good movie that wasn’t all the rage in the U.S.

Two German films:

Downfall

Nowhere in Africa

Both remarkable

And yes @Silhouette I entirely agree with you about The Lives of Others

I don’t know if anyone knows the movie Wrist Cutters a Love Story but I loved it and when I ask no one seems to have heard of it. It was really funny and interesting.

@bandit77 I watched the Mist and I was really amazed. Excellent movie.

I love Stephen King but have never seen The Mist. At @bandit77 and @reacting_acid recommendations, I’ll look for it at the video store.

@Adagio Was that the title? No wonder I couldn’t find it online. Thank you, I’ve been looking everywhere for that film. It was very good.

Yes, the movie Transsiberian was unknown to me and was an impulse rent, and it turned out to be quite good.

The Education of Little Tree is a wonderful little known film.

It’s one of those “slice of life” type of movies which can be enjoyed by adults and children alike.

It tells the story of a Native American boy in the 30s who is being raised by his grandparents.

The government tries to take him away to a boarding school designed to “educate” these children while obliterating any traces of their heritage.

This is what happened to many Indian children in those times.

It’s not just a thought provoking film. It has charm and whimsy and the nature scenes are gorgeously shot.

I have no idea why it hasn’t found a larger audience. Good quality family films are hard to find and this one succeeds on many levels.

Suburban Mayhem. Not that it’s totally unknown, but it ain’t mainstream.

Lotsa less popular or more obscure films strike out once you see them, even if only because some of them stick out just for not being the norm.

I saw this French animated film. All in black and white. Fantastic animation and sound, it really calls all of your imagination into play.

Constantly! That’s how I’ve discovered many of my favorite movies. A long time ago I stopped paying much attention to friends and movie critics when they praised a movie or
dissed it.
