How do i apply to Penn State?

Asked by invic (110points) December 29th, 2009

So i wish to attend in Fall 2010 but i don’t understand the lingo of rollover admissions, is it too late to apply? So confusing. Ahaha, now you must be thinking, “this poor and confused chap wants to apply to Penn state and doesn’t know if he can?” trying to liven the mood you know.

If you’re just about to graduate this year you could talk to your guidance counselor and have them help you. They usually have personal connections and can vouch for you, or at least walk you through all the paperwork.

You go to this website and fill out the application online to apply:
http://admissions.psu.edu/apply/steps/index.cfm

However you have missed the deadline for Fall Term (by far, November).

In this circumstance I would contact an Academic Advisor by phone and ask them if there is any way you can apply late and if so how you do it. You may have to apply for Winter term instead of Fall.

what loses me is how Nov 1st to attend spring and Nov 30 to attend fall, thats just… doesn’t compute in my head… well thank you very much. will do.

@invic I can answer that for you :)

They likely mean Spring of this term as it has yet to start. So for this coming January. They do not mean Spring for the following year.

So thing like this Spring 2010 (this is where returning students start after xmas break), Summer 2010, Fall 2010 (this is where most new students start), Winter 2010, Spring 2011, Summer 2011

all these applications… ahaha, then why would it be that the due date for summer classes is later than the fall?

Are you an international student? It looks like they have a later deadline for those students.

@invic You should think of summer as a bit separate. Most universities treat summer as something different than the rest of the terms. There are usually even different ways of applying (once enrolled) for summer term. To answer your question more specifically though it is because Fall admissions takes more time and is more important to them on many levels than Summer term. So they allow more time to process the Fall admissions.

If you want to go to Penn State, you must listen to the recent episode of This American Life, where Ira Glass visits the country’s #1 party school

They have an earlier enrollment for Fall semester matriculation because the financial aid awards are made for fall matriculation.
