Why does cold weather seem to make one pee more?

Asked by Strauss (23618points) December 30th, 2009

Inspired in part by this question; it’s been on my mind for several weeks, since the weather got colder here in Colorado.

Sometimes it gets so bad that an hour’s frolicking in the snow becomes impossible without an interruption.

In cold temperatures, we don’t sweat as much. The excess water in our body needs another outlet to get out.

You should try taking a 20 mg. water pill in cold weather. you go every 20 minutes, every 15 minutes in rainy, cold weather.

You should try directing traffic on the interstate in cold weather, after taking a water bill. its not very much fun to dance around, trying to hold it, until you are free to make a dash to the woods.

Pure guess. Cold makes the bladder contract. Maybe wearing heavier clothing to sweat out the excess liquid might help.

@john65pennington ; Oh, that’s why that traffic directing patrolman got so famous years ago on candid camera. He wasn’t really dancing, he just had to pee!!

hmmmmmm. maybe your bladder doesn’t like feeling cold. so it releases more pee, more often. just a loud guess.
