I keep it at 2.5 inches, which is in the recommended height range (2.5 – 3.5 in) for a healthy lawn.

So much of it depends on where you live and what kind of grass you have. Where I live, we are looking at the snow on the grass at the moment. During the season, I only cut off the top ⅓ when mowing and the frequency of mowing depends on the amount of rain (i.e., the amount of growth) the lawn gets. I have a blue fescue mix. I aerate it in the spring and fertilize it in the spring and fall. I also treat for broadleaf weeds. I haven’t had to de-thatch it.

In the Spring and Summer we have a service that cuts it. It is usually healthy.

In the summer. Every week.

In the winter. Every month.

Twice a month? I mow it when I get to it, at the highest setting on the mower. Probably once a month most of the year, twice a month or weekly in the spring, if I can. I also start mowing later in the spring and stop sooner in the summer than my neighbors.

My building’s gardeners cut the lawn once a month from April to October/November and leave it be over the winter.

I have a friend who use to live in San Jose. Our property taxes are bad . Yours and New Jersey are the worst in the country. I live in New York.
California is beautiful but despite your climate Earthquakes frighten me. My friend survived one in 1989 . I saw it on TV . The Baseball game was on.
My friend stood in the doorway in his home. While the house fell a part around him.
I wish I could hire you.
They will not even cut my brushes or trees.
