New year, New Hair. I can't screw this decision up!

Asked by yellowpoppy (39points) January 1st, 2010

I want to cut my hair for the new year and all, I am very sick of my hair currently. This is a pic of me recently http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=792906&l=185f4a5984&id=1314542297 I cut my own hair a little since then, but it gives you an idea of my face shape and hair color.

I want a very casual feeling hair cut. Part of me wants to cut it short, but I have just grown out my bangs, and I am a bit scared I will regret cutting it later. I am having a pretty hard time finding good pictures, and I will not go to the salon with out a picture, because otherwise I can’t tell if they understand what I am asking for.

So please, your suggestions and links to photos please. Thank you so much!

Well, I like your hair the way it is. But if you wish to cut it, I recommend just diving through those free hair books. It can be stressing to have your hair cut; just try to not think about it as a life or death situation. If you don’t go too short, you can always go back for a trim or restyling. From the lay of your hair, you might try some light layering. Nothing too much, but enough so it looks light and airy and casual. I don’t know your style, so all I can say is good luck!

I think cut it a bit shorter, maybe half off but you could keep the bangs, I think you might look good with this haircut or possibly this one .
I don’t mean the color, but the length of the cut.

I’m a hairstylist. I’m not saying I know better than everyone else but I thought I’d just let you know that up front.

If you came in my salon I would recommend something like this: http://img2.timeinc.net/instyle/images/2007/parties/061307_holmes_400X400.jpg

I’m not a fan of Katie’s super structured bobs but this one is very layered, textured, would look great with a very heavy side bang (since you probably don’t want to cut those?) It looks nice messy or polished and I think it would look great on you.

Oh yeah, and I’d always recommend making a pretty “big” change. It sounds like you really want something fun and different and if you don’t go far enough with it you will just end up in a middle area that will suck just as bad as no change. :)

Frankly I think you look great just the way you are. If anything let the hair grow longer. I’m no expert, just personal preference.

dramatic change, a little long on the upkeep but it’s different but not freakish I’ve seen it before. the the top curly and short one
