What does NSF stand for on fluther?

Asked by mass_pike4 (2096points) January 7th, 2010

I do not get some of your little abbreviations. This one being so. What are some other abbreviations people use on here that others who do not use this site normally would not understand?

If you mean ‘NSFW’, that means ‘Not safe for work’. I don’t know what NSF means.

Not Safe For….. whatever

NSFW = not safe for work
NSFA = not safe for anyone
NSFSP = not safe for smart people

I thought it meant National Science Foundation. Oops! Talk about being limited by one’s background.

Seriously, “NSFW” means “not safe for work” and is a conventional warning (widely used in the world outside fluther) that you probably want to wait to open this page until you’re assured of privacy. The content might be embarrassing to you or to others around you. It is probably also something you don’t want to open in front of your kids.

This is an agreed-upon label at the top-level question because once you’ve opened the page it might be too late.

It’s often used for dramatic flair. It stands for No Shit… Fucker..
As in NSF word.~
edit added pause…. not to be confused with backdoor antics

IMO: In my opinion.
IMHO: In my humble opinion.
IMVHO: In my very humble opinion.
IMNSHO: In my not-so-humble opinion.
IMNSHE/M/B/P/Etc.DHO: In my not-so-humble English/medical/biology/psychology/etc.-degree-holding opinion.

These are all very common.

Insufficient funds. You haven’t paid your monthly membership. I get an email from fluther on about the fifth of every month. You guys get those too, right?
