What might you do this weekend to improve your mind or help a friend?

Asked by Owl (726points) January 8th, 2010

It’s been a long work week and now many of us have two days off to rest and relax. Nothing wrong with that, but if you can use a little of the time to learn something new or lend a helping hand to someone in need, even better. Thoughts?

I’m currently improving my mind by studying for an exam. I’m studying all about meterology.

I’m going to improve my mental health by faking my own death and assuming a new identity.

Look for my next Fluther question: How does one fake one’s own death and assume a new identity?

Good for you, Blackberry. I know you’ll “weather” the test!

@Owl Lol. Thank you Owl. Meteorology is my only ‘love’.

I’‘ll read, cf course (not hard for me). ;)

I have a friend in college who can barely cook. I was thinking about bringing some food over and making her lunch and dinner. I haven’t seen her in awhile. And then, for my “just-graduated-high school” friend, I plan on helping him edit some his resume. Writing isn’t his strong point.

I am likely to call my mother and check on her. Then spend most of my weekend figuring out what to do about my bad knee, which is not improving.

I belong to a support network .We help each other all the time. We empathize and support each other. We speak in a forum, in chat and on line.
Blackberry I took Meteorology Years ago. I found it fascinating but not easy. I hope your Professor is better than mine. LOL it is easier than Geology. I took a Liberal Arts Science Class called Earth Science. We studied Meteorology, Geology, and Oceanography . I love Science and did well; despite that my Professor was a jerk.

Our family has not been eating healthy the past several months. I plan on searching for healthy recipes and making a grocery list for the coming week.

Marina, I sympathize. I have bad knees, too, and another reason I love my hammock. ;-)Be good to yours this weekend.

I plan on teaching my son how to bake vegan chocolate chip cookies, then enjoying them in front of the roaring fireplace :)

In turn, he will learn a new recipe, and I will renew my mind by meditating in front of the fire.

Somehow if we manage not to eat all of the cookies I’m going to ship some in a care package to a certain someone…

mcbealer can I have the recipe ?
I am not a Vegan but I eat only Whole Foods, lean chicken, wild fish, mostly vegetables, fruit, nuts ,seeds and very few sweets.
I try hard to teach my Autistic Son to eat properly.

@philosopher ~ yes!! I will PM you the recipe tomorrow :)

I’ll be spending time with my mom, since I am going back to school soon which always makes her sad.

Working on my endeavors as a Health Activist. I will be writing blog posts and doing research. I will be squeezing in some play time with my children as well and working to get myself out of “the slump” I seem to be in. Thanks for the question…I would love to think of something nice I could do for someone else. Maybe I will bake something and take it to my neighbors. =)
