Is there an easy way to wear skates without irritation?

Asked by mollypop51797 (1430points) January 8th, 2010

Ok, my daughter is going to a skating party. We just bought new figure skates, so they aren’t broken into or anything, just stiff and new. I know, just a feeling, that she is going to get some type of irritation or blister or sore or something at the party. It doesn’t have any padding, and we have considered thick socks, but they don’t cover the ankle. So, irritation by the ankle? This may be a stupid question, but she will be in skates for 2 hours, dancing to music and I just want some type of padding that will lat for a long time on ice. Any suggestions? thanks so much!

Bandaids on he ankles? wear some tights under her jeans or skirt. Not hose, real tights that go all the way around her foot. then the extra pair of footies. Try that. and if you want to go the extra mile, put bandaids on under the tights under the footies.

Sounds like you need to buy your daughter some socks that cover her ankles…

Ace bandages? Medical tape? Either of those or anything similar should do the trick as well as keeping the ankles firm. I would think that stiffness in the ankles wouldn’t be a problem when figure skating. Although I’m no pro on the subject.
