What are some good ways to make a fort?

Asked by chiplmprincessa (70points) January 10th, 2010

Yes this is an interesting question but I have been saying in my last few questions that I would make a pillow fort for my next sleepover or play date or whatever. So how can I make one? Like directions for where to put the sheets and everything. And maybe we could make the flooring with pillows or something like that. My bro has two twin beds on the left of the wall about 6 feet away from the door where you first come in. and the beds are about 3 feet away from each other so that may give you an idea of how to direct the sheets and stuff. And I know this has nothing to do with the fort but how can i get my splits down fast. I want to show off (not in a bad way because everyone thats coming to my sleepover has their splits down) at my sleepover with the pillow fort. So please answer both of my questions! Thaaank ya!!

rearrange the furniture in a way that the sheets can connect with each other drapily. stuff the ends in between cushions, hold them down with books, etc. the bigger and more furniture the better.

Is it just me or are these things getting really easy to spot. What child posts such elaborate questions about forts? And why such a fascination with splits? I smell something funny….but it ain’t teen spirit.

My sister and I used to pull our beds apart and put sheets over them. We piled pillows to wall off the gaps.

I used to use the headboard of our bunk beds as the top, drape sheets off the side.
Then I’d use two brooms or poles and as far as I could go I’d prop them up and use hair ties to attach the sheets to the top of them. Draping more sheets with clothespins for any gaps in the walls.
Arrange sofa cushions and throw pillows as necessary.

Instant tented mansion of a fort.
Maximum occupancy of eight.

Works best if you have a bunk bed. Then you just cover it with sheets and voila! Instant fort, covered wagon, pirate ship, rocket ship or whatever. If you are allowed to put tacks in the wall you might tack one edge of a sheet to the wall over one of the beds and drape it over the bed to make a “lean-to” fort. Otherwise, sneak a couple of step ladders into the room, put one at each end of the chosen bed or beds (pushed together to make one surface), and drape sheets over them. Keep the sheets in place with stacks of books.

Why are you using your brother’s room? What is he supposed to do while this sleepover is going on? Why can’t you do it in your own room?

As to doing the splits fast, I have no idea. I have never been able to do the splits.

My favorite forts are ones that I can have the ability to access entertainment once inside. Build it in a room with a tv and create a maze of chairs sheets and pillows with a large area and a sheet going over, but not shutting out your view of the tv from inside the fort. I remeber when I was young we would have a super nintendo inside to play. From an architectural standpoint you would need a lot of sheets and chairs of the same size.
