Should I wait for a 3G iPhone?

Asked by itmustbeken (233points) February 28th, 2008

I was trying to be strong and wait…but I’m loosing my grasp. Should I wait for the 3G version? And if so, why? What will 3G get me that EDGE doesn’t have?

the reason the current iPhone doesnt have 3g is because the battery issue. Its been said that the technology is better now and it shouldn’t kill the batts. Its hoped it will be out this summer. You could wait it out till then and make a completely educated guess on which one you want at the time. 3g, new from apple – or a slightly used one from one of the crap ton of people that will be selling their old edge for cheap.

3G rules for the reason of rivaling DSL speeds on a cellular network. Total kick a$$.

EDGE is not as slow as you think. I love this phone and will upgrade to 3G version when it comes out but I wouldn’t wait. A day without iPhone is a day in hell!

There is no announced 3G iPhone. If 3G service is more important than having an iPhone, you should wait.

If you are a person who loves waiting (like waiting for summer in September, or waiting for Christmas in February, or waiting for your February 29th birthday), then yes, you should wait. You will have a ball.

Otherwise, buy one now. You’ll be glad you did. When the 3G iPhone does make an appearance, you can upgrade.

The 3G iPhone will be out this summer (June/July)

There is no information supporting this, it is just speculation.

Congratulations, welcome to the club. Aren’t you glad you didn’t wait any longer?

blunkhouse, it is not speculation. I know someone who works for at&t and she has confirmed it.

@Zombo: I work at Apple. Your “contact” doesn’t know anything.
