Can a woman be "made"?

Made in regards to La Cosa Nostra. I know you have to be 100% Sicilian in order to be made, but what if you are Sicilian and female? In movies and books as well as news reports you always hear of wiseguys, never wisegals. Has the Mafia ever accepted any females into their organization? I’m guessing not but I’m not certain. Is there a LCN rulebook somewhere that addresses this?
