General Question

Where can I find Goya ginger beer (or really spicy ginger beer/ginger ale)?

Asked by RedMosquitoMM (539points) January 19th, 2010

I live in northeast Wisconsin, with regular access to Green Bay, the Fox Valley, and Madison.

I don’t think they sell Blenheim’s around here, but I’d also be interested in that.

Have you ever tried Vernor’s? It’s made in Detroit, and it’s pretty spicy.

For some reason I remember it being really sweet, but I’m going to give it another try this weekend. I’m aiming to make Moscow Mules as well as drinking them as is, so I’d prefer a spicier – less sweet – variety of either beer or ale.

I’ve heard Goya is one of the spiciest and best so I’d really love info on where to find that particular variety around here (or order it cheap online).

I’ve never had Goya, but have you tried an international market? My mother’s Italian deli carries it.

@zephyr826 That’s certainly one place to try. There’s a cool little Italian deli on Madison’s campus near Regent and Park. I’ll try there.

@everyone I’m hoping to find a common grocery store or market that carries it.

I can get it at the local Mexican Food Mart…Binny’s carries JuJu Ginger Ale which is pretty good too.

Call Goya and ask you distributes in your area, and then call the distributor and they can tell you who sells it. http://www.goya.com/english/products/product.html?prodCatID=5&prodSubCatID=17

You might like Sidral also.

I dont know if they sell stewarts root beer out your way, but they also make a ginger beer that is pretty spicy.

@uberbatman They do, as does Sprecher’s (their Ginger Ale is fantastic). I’ll check it out if I see it around.

@JLeslie I thought to check the site for dealers but not to call. Good idea.

Reed’s is pretty spicy. I generally find it at specialty/health grocery stores.

Fentimans is a great Ginger Beer. Just had some at the Fancy Food Show in SF.

@everyone If you have more input let me know, but I found both Vernor’s and Goya at Woodman’s (the Goya ginger beer in small amounts of stock).

Apparently a local Pick&Save (Roundy’s) carries Reed’s around here. I’ll try that as well and look into some of the other brands mentioned here.

Thanks!
