Do you think the White House's windows are bullet-proof?

Asked by hungertoragejr (266points) January 20th, 2010

Do you think the windows of the white house a bullet-proof? I always wanted to know if they were… It seems like they would be because someone could just shoot inside and kill somebody, but you never know… give me YOUR opinion.

Yes, I think so.

You could probably hit them with a small rpg and not get through.

I believe most of them are bulletproof, but not all. [Citation needed. I’m going off memory from a tour.]

Not only are they bulletproof, they’re also impervious to eavesdropping and most non-visible electromagnetic radiation as well.

Probably. I’d imagine they’d also put an anti-aircraft gun on the roof and have other countermeasures as well. :-)

Wouldn’t be surprised is there were an invisible shield covering it.

@hungertoragejr You’re not planning on anything are you? ;)

I have no doubt that the walls (and not just the windows) of any room that is “routinely” used and / or occupied by the President (such as the Oval Office and the President’s living quarters, to name some obvious examples) is hardened against all kinds of attack and surveillance. “Bulletproof” would be the minimum that I’d expect.

yeah i would think so.

whatever you do, i highly suggest you dont attempt to find out, unless your idea of fun is being tackled by several large men with automatic weapons and never seeing sunlight again.

@HTDC No!(; I have no intentions on doing any such of thing.

Not only are they bullet proof, but as @Dr_Dredd pointed out, there are armed Secret Service SRT units patrolling the grounds from the rooftop at all times and in all types of weather.

Apparently not. Of course that article is from 1994.

What possible reason would their be to have bulletproof glass on the White House when a force field surrounds the entire building?
