Where is a good place to stay in LAX for sight seeing?

Asked by Chikipi (1843points) January 23rd, 2010 from iPhone

My friend and I will be taking a cruise this upcoming year. We plan on arriving 2 days before we leave port at Long Beach. What is a good hotel to stay at for great sight seeing in LAX and what should we see? We want our hotel stay to be around or less than $200 per night- complimentary airport shuttle service is a plus because we won’t be renting a car- Should we stay in the city one night and another by the beach?

It really depends on what you want to see. Would you rather see Disneyland, The Getty Museum, or Venice Beach? Hollywood?

Sightseeing in LA without a car?...will be severely limiting

Chikipi's avatar

@sndfreQ walking isn’t really an option? So a car rental would be better?

The food court is nice!

LAX refers to the airport only. ;)

@Judi we have about a day and a half to spend there. Hollywood sign would be neat, but we won’t have that kind of money to spend at Rodeo drive.

@andrew oops! We will probably be hungry when we land :)

Do you have to arrive at LAX, what about Long Beach airport? There a several places to stay some right at the terminal for Carnival Crises.

I have not taken a Taxi lately from LAX but a guess for shuttle cost to Long Beach would be $35 to 50 each.

Taxi was $100 or more in 2006.

I think there was a good discussion awhile ago on things to do in LA…try doing a search on Fluther to
find it. Most of the SoCal natives chimed in and gave some great suggestions (I’d link to it but I’m on my iPhone at the moment).

@Tropical_Willie we are flying into LAX because it is non stop and the tickets were over $100 cheaper. We can stay in Los Angeles or Long Beach. What did you do in Long Beach?

@sndfreQ will do

You do realize, don’t you, that “LAX” is “an airport”? I guess the Starbucks and the duty-free shop are about as good as any other choice of places to see in LAX.

@CyanoticWasp yes @andrew cleared up this issue earlier. I meant Los Angeles. Apologies-I was burned out after booking.

@sndfreQ Wow that’s a big list of things to do. Thanks a bunch :)
