How do you eat Applebees Riblets?

Asked by MrItty (17406points) January 23rd, 2010

(please ignore the nutritional value or your opinion on their taste. thanks)

How are Applebees’ Riblets supposed to be eaten? There isn’t enough meat on the ribs to get it off effectively with knife and fork, and there isn’t enough bone sticking out to grab individual ones with your hands….

Then you just have to stick your head down into the plate and scarf them up doggy style.

Food etiquette? Applebees? Sounds like an oxymoron to me.

Remember Randy in Christmas Story? he downed his mashed potatotes with the plate in both hands. have plenty of napkins on stand-by.

Wow. Thanks to you all for such incredibly helpful responses. Can i just do a mass “flag” on all of them?

If you have no value to offer to the question, are you just that bored that you felt the need to respond?

Sorry, @MrItty – couldn’t resist such an easy target. Flag me if it makes you feel better.

Already did, janbb. Along with every other response thus far. I knew it was an “easy target” when I typed it. Hence why my request for on-topic responses preceded it. Pity you couldn’t resist the urge.

A fork and knife is a no go for the riblets. I always hated eating them around people b/c I felt like a dog not you Dog =) You really gotta use your teeth and tear at them and avoid eating the ends. You’ll usually find yourself using your finger to fish out the little bone in your mouth after you bite off a chunk.

Btw I used to work at the Bee and I would not recommend the riblets, I would stick to the rack of ribs

I just pick them up and eat them with my fork. I don’t try to get the meat off, but just use the fork to keep from getting my hands messy, unless it’s just my husband and me, then mess, mess, mess – he won’t care. I do ask for extra napkins.

You might take a peek around to see how other people are doing it.

Thank you, @Ansible1 and @YARNLADY for your responses. Much obliged.

Any part of the RIB Family, I would eat it like it was a spare-rib BBQ of the grill with my hands. I myself BBQ Riblets that has more meat than Applebee’s. I never tried the applebees but I do hear they are very very tiny. I get 10lbs of pork riblets for $12 dollars and BBQ them island style… Use your hands and or however you like to my friend. God Bless
