Have you ever looked for replacement hardware at your local IKEA?

Asked by axlekb (58points) January 23rd, 2010

Lost a few parts 100535 (2) and 100038 (1). Since it’s been more than 90 days since the purchase, IKEA says I have to go to the store and ask for help. Has anyone ever done this? What luck have you had? I can see that other products are still using this part that are sold in the store.

If it’s just a piece of hardware (a nail, screw, bolt, etc), they usually have big cubby-hole cabinets in the customer service area filled with misc. hardware where you can just pick out what you need and take it. Ikea tends to have good customer service, I wouldn’t worry about it, I’d just go and see what they can do for you!

Not my experience. I had to go to a place called Tacoma Screw (my favorite company name after Buffalo Sanitary Wipes) and work with them for a long time to find screws made in the U.S. that were the same gauge as some from an otherwise very cool revolving armchair I bought from IKEA, which broke handily in the second year of use. Broke by my granddaughter, whose favorite toy it still is.

Pardon the sentence structure here, I’m immerse in Patrick O’Brian.
