Any creative ways to present my project?

Asked by FlyingElephantWithGiganticEars (59points) January 24th, 2010

I have a project in Social Studies class about Ancient Greek laws. I don’t want to do a powerpoint presentation, but something more unique. Any suggestions please?

Go get a roman soldier costume and make the presentation on old style scrolls or tablets.

Visual aids and costume play really make school assignments pop. May wanna check with your teacher first though.

@Shield_of_Achilles has a good point. Visual aids are awesome and skits can make the most boring topic into an interesting and entertaining lesson. Definitely check with the teacher.

I was going to suggest something similar to @Shield_of_Achilles – try enforcing all the laws for a class period. I have no idea what the laws were in ancient Greece probably something about repressing women and wearing togas, right? ;) but making your classmates act out the laws would be a cool way to illustrate it. And of course a costume is always helpful!

@Shield_of_Achilles , thanks for the good idea on costumes, and @fireinthepriory , I was thinking maybe make a video of how a Greek law court would have looked like? Will that be interesting, visual and informative enough?

I would think getting the class involved (I think this is what @fireinthepriory was talking about) by using the laws in the class. What happens when so&so breaks this law? To get people interested, involve them. It works.

You could have the class randomly draw roles in the class structure, so that when you’re in character, you could address the laws accordingly. That way, the people who were identified as slaves, or women, or ruling class would have what you’re saying directed at them. You could then talk about the implications of the laws, and how it impacted how the society ran, and is carried forward today.

@ridicawu , and @PandoraBoxx , you guys really have such good ideas. I really will try to involve the class now and get them to participate. Thanks so much!

Um, with the costume thing, just don’t bring a spear or sword or homeland security will get called out and it will be all over the national news . . . there will be an incident, if you know what I mean . . .

I usually find that when I make a video presentation it always grabs people’s attention the most. Get some friends to help you make a movie (sometimes goofy is best!) that will entertain your class but also help them learn.
